Arizona Research Roundtable

Connecting journalists and scholars

Attend EWA’s Arizona Research Roundtable in Phoenix

Education Writers Association members recently asked for local networking and professional development. We’re responding with the first EWA Arizona Research Roundtable in Phoenix!

This 1.5-hour hyperlocal gathering connects reporters and experts researching significant issues in K-12 and higher education. Join your fellow journalists Oct. 18 at 4 p.m. Mountain Standard Time on the Helios Education Campus – known for bringing stakeholders together to discuss innovative ideas to solve the state’s most pressing education issues.

Drawing from their extensive research expertise, scholars will advise reporters on the top areas in education they should be watching and reporting on in the next year. These experts will also provide practical tips, such as where journalists can find data and research, how they can assess good vs. bad research, and how they can collaborate with education researchers as other EWA members previously did

The casual roundtable format will allow reporters to have one-on-one conversations with the scholars, network and leave with story ideas. Plus, ask your questions: What scholarly research can be used to strengthen that piece you’re working on?  What are the throughlines these scholars are seeing in their research and in today’s headline-making news around the country?

This gathering is open to EWA journalist members (and journalists who aren’t members). Spots are limited, so sign up today! Questions? Email Kristan Obeng at KObeng@ewa.org.

EWA thanks the Spencer Foundation for its support of this program.
