Postsecondary education offers one of the surest pathways to opportunity in America, but completion alone does not guarantee success. Success beyond completion means that graduates consistently secure meaningful work, achieve economic security and mobility, and experience a positive return on their investment.

Journalist members are eligible for exclusive, advance access to Strada Education Foundation’s annual 2026 State Opportunity Index, which uses a research-based framework to demonstrate how effectively all 50 states and Washington, D.C., connect postsecondary education to jobs.

The 2026 State Opportunity Index will be publicly released in November. The database, now in its third year, advances the conversation on how states can improve post-college opportunities for learners by centering on five research-backed areas that drive better results for learners and employers: Clear Outcomes, Quality Coaching, Affordability, Work-Based Learning, and Employer Alignment.

So how do all of these things work together to better ensure success for college graduates?

Join the Education Writers Association on Thursday, Oct. 22 at 2 p.m. Eastern, for a webinar to help reporters understand the information available in the State Opportunity Index and the potential story ideas the data can support. Get embargoed access to index information at the national and individual state levels, useful background information, and other tips to advance higher education topics in your reporting.

This sponsor webinar is presented by Strada Education Foundation.
