KUOW Puget Sound Public Radio is seeking an experienced reporter to cover stories about education in the Puget Sound region, ranging from K-12 through college.
The Education Reporter will dive deep into issues that influence education equity, funding, policy, student outcomes and educator workforce/labor issues. They will spend time in the community to find trends, enterprise stories and diverse perspectives. The reporter will work with their editor to determine coverage approaches and priorities, with ongoing attention to systemic issues that contribute to the quality and inequity in our schools. A sample of topics for the upcoming year could include teacher shortages and burnout, school safety, disciplinary policies, student mental health, intersections with politics (critical race theory, book bans, transgender athletes), and new models for school and learning post-pandemic.
