Ron Reed, founder and executive producer of SXSW EDU, has been involved with educational publishing and technology since graduating from the University of Texas.
In the mid-80s, Ron helped launch Optical Data Corporation, which pioneered the first state-adopted technology alternative to traditional textbooks and was acquired by McGraw Hill. He then joined Publishers Resource Group as General Manager, an Austin-based curriculum development organization that was purchased by Thomson Learning.
In 2006, he established an independent consulting firm where he produced several educational sessions for SXSW. The experience led him to launch SXSW EDU in 2011, an international convergence event focused on innovations in learning, for educators, business, industry, legislative and policy leaders.
