Cheyanne Mumphrey

Cheyanne Mumphrey is a national reporter for The Associated Press who covers education, wellness and issues affecting students and families. Her education reporting examines the changing ways children learn and experience school.
In 2025, Mumphrey received the Associated Press–Robert R. Eunson Alumni Achievement Award in Journalism, which recognizes Northern Arizona University graduates who demonstrate outstanding professional accomplishment and uphold the highest standards of journalism. Her work has also received finalist designations from EWA and the National Association of Black Journalists.
Mumphrey earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in journalism and communication and media studies from Northern Arizona University.
