No one knows exactly what school will look like once states decide it’s safe to reopen, but it won’t be business as usual. Concerns about a resurgence of the coronavirus pandemic will likely require big changes to maintain physical distancing. And millions of students will return having lost weeks of precious instructional time, requiring educators to diagnose the loss and determine how best to get them back on track.
In this EWA webinar, two education leaders — the co-chair of a 16-state education recovery task force and the Baltimore schools superintendent — discuss key decisions that must be made to plan for reopening schools. They help education journalists better understand the challenges ahead and the kinds of questions they should be asking in their states and communities.
