The Supreme Court recently heard arguments in cases challenging race-conscious admissions practices at Harvard University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
The court previously ruled that colleges may consider an applicant’s race as one of numerous factors in a holistic evaluation process. But Students for Fair Admissions, the conservative activist group that brought the two cases, is asking the justices to overturn that decision and, with it, years of precedent.
