Hundreds of millions of dollars in education research have already been cut, and there are plans to scale back staff responsible for overseeing everything from how Title I funds are distributed to high-need schools to oversight of federal student loan programs.
In line with the new administration’s priorities, the department’s Office for Civil Rights has already begun targeting districts accused of violating a new ban on programs and services aligned with Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
