The Education Writers Association is pleased to announce its 15th class of EWA Reporting Fellows, under an initiative aimed at supporting enterprising, ambitious journalism projects.

“The diversity of ideas, ambition and news outlets was exciting,” said George Dieter, EWA’s interim executive director. “And proof that journalists are keen to dig deep to understand implications, uncover injustices and share best practices. We are delighted to be able to support these in-depth projects that inform the public about critical educational topics.”

Seven applications were chosen in a competitive process. EWA will provide up to $5,000 to help cover reporting costs and other assistance for each project. This is the first time EWA has offered micro-fellowships in recognition that many education reporters are more stretched than ever with the responsibilities that come with daily beat reporting. The projects will be published by June 30, 2023.

To date, EWA has supported more than 100 projects, resulting in high-quality, impactful education stories in various media in communities across the country.
