The Education Writers Association is pleased to announce its 21st class of EWA Reporting Fellows. These competitive fellowships are part of the organization’s drive to support enterprise journalism that informs the public about consequential issues in education.
EWA selected nine projects for this fellowship round. Six fellows will focus on ambitious higher education topics, receiving up to $10,000 to help cover reporting costs, plus other assistance. Additionally, three reporters will each receive $5,000 micro-fellowships for stand-alone stories and smaller series on K-12 special education topics.
“This was a particularly competitive round for our fellowship program, which speaks to both the continued need for high-quality, in-depth education reporting and the caliber of our journalist members,” said EWA’s executive director Kathy Chow. “We are proud to support their timely and ambitious work.”
The fall 2025 EWA Reporting Fellows represent a diverse mix of news organizations and projects. Most of their work will be published by summer 2026.
