Mourning the Loss of Fazil Khan

It was with immense sadness that we learned of the death of Fazil Khan, a data reporter at The Hechinger Report and an EWA member.
He was a talented, incredible reporter and lovely person who was a joy to work with. Our thoughts are with Fazil’s family and friends and his colleagues at The Hechinger Report.

Additionally, The Hechinger Report established The Fazil Khan Internship Fund, which supports an internship for a Columbia Journalism School graduate student who wants to follow in Fazil’s footsteps as a data journalist.
This fund honors Fazil, who moved to the U.S. from India to attend Columbia Journalism School and then became a data journalist.
