The lines between high school, college and careers are blurring as lawmakers, administrators and others look to close workforce gaps and make postsecondary education more accessible.

Credential programs, career and technical education classes and apprenticeships aim to get students more workforce ready. Dual enrollment, Advanced Placement classes and early college high schools offer students a taste of college and could even help them save thousands on their degrees.

But questions remain about these opportunities, from their accessibility to their effectiveness. As school leaders, politicians and businesses funnel billions of dollars into these programs, the need for more reporting grows stronger.

The Education Writers Association invites journalist members to apply for this year’s Pathways Caucus, an opportunity to dig deeper into college and career pathways in an online reporting community. From September through February, participants will meet monthly to build their knowledge and expertise on pathways, gaining insights from fellow journalists and national experts.

Deepen ties with education reporters, bond and network with like-minded peers in the caucus. Above all, the goal is for participants to come away inspired, informed and better prepared to produce compelling coverage on the evolution of college and career preparation.

Beginning in September, the caucus will meet the second Wednesday of each month at 1 p.m. Eastern on the following dates: Sept. 11, Oct. 9, Nov. 13, Dec. 11, Jan. 8 and Feb. 12.

The deadline to apply for this caucus is Friday, Aug. 16
