BOSTON (May 22, 2023) – After record-breaking attendance at the initial Science of Reading Week edWebinars held by Lexia, a Cambium Learning Group company, K12 educators and administrators will now have another opportunity to learn about aligning teaching practices with scientifically-researched methods. Recordings of the dynamic and thought-provoking edWebinars are now available on demand at the Lexia website.
In each edWebinar, industry thought leaders and Lexia’s own literacy experts discussed ways to accelerate students’ literacy gains. Cassandra Wheeler, senior manager of LETRS State Success at Lexia, served as moderator for each of the webinars while presenters unpacked the science of reading through the lens of national public perception, equity, and implementation as well as teachers’ roles and responsibilities.
“Science of Reading Week was one of our most successful learning events,” Lexia Chief Learning Officer Dr. Liz Brooke said. “On average, over 2,400 educators attended each webinar, and the audience was a healthy mix of literacy educators, administrators, and classroom teachers. While live participants had the added advantage of engaging with the large community of educators who were attending and asking questions of the presenters, on-demand viewers will still find a wealth of information on transforming literacy instruction.”

Cassandra Wheeler asked questions of the three for a discussion around the next steps in the fight to make sure all students learn to read.
