MADISON, Wis. – November 29, 2023 – August House and TeachingBooks announced an agreement to offer TeachingBooks’ users a free subscription to the Story Cove supplemental reading platform. Story Cove enables students to explore 22 traditional stories in multiple formats, including animation, read-to-me, and read-along, along with differentiated lesson plans aligned to Kindergarten through 2nd grade standards. TeachingBooks complements Story Cove by offering dynamic digital resources that “bring books to life,” including author and illustrator Audio Name Pronunciations, Cultural Representation Reflections, and customizable Multi-Leveled Lessons.
“We are pleased to partner with TeachingBooks to offer this free collection of reading resources to all students and educators,” said Steve Floyd, President of August House. “The basic goal for Story Cove is to help nurture a love of reading as children explore these timeless stories. The award-winning supplemental reading program offers a variety of ways for kids to experience timeless stories from the world’s great oral traditions.”
In addition to strengthening core reading skills, such as comprehension, fluency and phonics, educators have found that offering carefully curated stories in multiple formats helps expand a child’s world view, reinforces character traits, and increases awareness of other cultural traditions.

TeachingBooks is honored to help Story Cove reach a wider audience and spark conversations about storytelling, culture and more.”
