EWA Launches Year-Long Giving Campaign to Support Journalists ‘Behind the Headlines’

The Education Writers Association (EWA) launches an ambitious year-long fundraising campaign to raise $40,000 to support education journalists. Will you support this vital work?

WASHINGTON, DC (January 7, 2025)The Education Writers Association (EWA) launches an ambitious fundraising campaign to raise $40,000 to support education journalists in 2025 and beyond.

To sustain and strengthen its vital work, EWA kicked off “Behind The Headlines” in honor of education journalists committed to uncovering the truth, holding institutions accountable and keeping communities informed.

“A donation to EWA is an investment in the stories that matter—stories that drive change in classrooms, communities and beyond,” said Eva-Marie Ayala, EWA board president and editor for The Dallas Morning News’ education lab. “Together, we can ensure education journalists have the tools they need to tell the stories that matter most.”

Contributions will help EWA provide essential training and resources to education reporters across the country, create more opportunities for collaboration and connection, strengthen the education journalism community, and champion in-depth, impactful reporting that informs the public and inspires action.

“As a nonprofit, we rely on supporters like you to fuel this work,” executive director Kathy Chow shared. “Your early support builds momentum and makes an immediate impact.”
