Santa Barbara, CA — Nov. 14, 2022 — ParentSquare, the award-winning unified school-home engagement platform for K-12 education, has earned Level IV certification for its alignment with the standards of Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). The certification validates that ParentSquare “demonstrates a rationale” for improving student outcomes according to ESSA standards of evidence. ESSA requires federal funding and stimulus dollars to be used for “evidence-based interventions.”
“The four ESSA tiers of evidence enable districts and schools to determine which products, programs, and practices are backed by high-quality research,” ParentSquare President and Founder Anupama Vaid said. “Students are still recovering from the learning disruptions of the pandemic, so it’s more important than ever to know when there’s evidence of a solution’s effectiveness. That’s why we’ve had the ParentSquare platform undergo a rigorous systematic review by a third party.”
ParentSquare worked with educational research company LearnPlatform, leveraging their third-party Evidence-as-a-Service offering, to create a foundational literature review and supporting logic model. The logic model serves as a “roadmap” that details the communication platform’s inputs, participants reached, core activities, outputs (i.e., implementation measures), and expected outcomes for participants.
“The LearnPlatform team agreed that the logic model was well-defined and informed by research,” said Vaid. “Those findings affirm the thought and planning that we put into the creation of a platform that enables equitable communication via extensive integrations with critical administrative systems; translations for more than 100 languages; and app, email, text, voice, and web portal access.”
ParentSquare is the only fully unified technology platform that engages every family with school communications and communications-based services—all the way from the district office to the classroom teacher, and all in one place. With ParentSquare’s intuitive, two-way communications platform, district and school officials can involve all families and overcome language or socioeconomic barriers, while maintaining the highest standards of privacy and security.
ParentSquare’s next course of action will be planning for an ESSA Level III study.
