Summer Reading List: “The Gift of Failure”

EWA Radio: Episode 35

In 2013, Jessica Lahey — a middle school English teacher and mother of two boys — asked a question: Why would happen if more parents let their children fail? Her blog post went viral, and inspired the new book “The Gift of Failure.”

Lahey, who blogs for The New York Times and The Atlantic, spoke with EWA Radio about the important role teachers play in shaping students’ resilience, why bribing kids to try harder doesn’t improve motivation, and some education issues she’d like to see reporters cover.
