The Education Writers Association (EWA) is pleased to announce the appointment of new members to its Board of Directors, Journalist Advisory Board, and Community Advisory Board. These leaders bring a wealth of experience and expertise that will help strengthen EWA’s mission and work. All terms of service are for two years.
We are honored to welcome Maritza Félix (Conecta Arizona), Cathleen Kenny (Pratt Institute), and Lily Altavena (Chalkbeat), to the EWA Board of Directors.
Three distinguished journalists are joining the Journalist Advisory Board, which will be chaired by José Martinez (WFMZ-TV 69 News):
- Jasper Smith, The Chronicle of Higher Education
- Cheyanne Mumphrey, The Associated Press
- Jennifer Pignolet, The Detroit News
The Community Advisory Board, chaired by Kimberly Hefling (GMMB), will welcome three new members:
- Sharise Johnson, SMJ Communications
- Tonya Harris, Council of the Great City Schools
- Caren Rodriguez, Carrollton-Farmer’s Branch Independent School District
We also extend our deepest appreciation to our outgoing members for their invaluable service and commitment to EWA’s mission. Their leadership has played an important role in shaping our programming and supporting the education journalism community.
